The Dennis M. Davis Foundation - "A World of Difference for a Different World!"

Thank you for taking the time to visit our web site. We are dedicated to educating people regarding not only in the humane treatment of animals but the consequences and dangers of not following legal and ethical guidelines toward the care and feeding of domestic animals.

One of the many avenues we are persuing to acheive this goal is the construction and staffing of "Humane Society" type shelters. However, there would be many differences between our shelters and others:

  1. We would not destroy animals. Similar to organizations such as Cat Adoption Team, we would keep all animals taken in alive.
  2. We would have educational classes and seminars at the facilities as well as reaching out to local community organizations and schools.
  3. Our staff would be primarily recovering alcoholics and addicts that have shown, through their recovery programs, to be ready to take on the responsibility and burden of loving and caring for distressed animals. Our feeling is that people who have been distressed with a crippling disease such as addiction can understand in a fundamental way how to deals with these unfortunate animals.

If you are seriously looking for a recovery program or you would like to help recovering alcoholics and addicts then we may have what you've been looking for. Our goal is to have recovery centers throughout the country that specialize in teaching the twelve step principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous by having the recovering alcoholics/addicts operate and maintain an "animal shelter" type care facility. These facilities would be non-profit organizations that the recovering alcoholics/addicts would be running as a business. All of the positions would be paid positions. We are also considering the possibility of specially priced housing as well but our main focus right now are the facilities themselves.

We are in the planning stage of this project and we would welcome any and all suggestions that you may have. However, please read through all of the information in this site so that you may become copmpletely familiar with our concept.
